The enigma of Kraken, the mysterious Canadian madmen that bring forth their plodding and heavy soundscapes are fueled by a wide range of influences from Judas Priest, Prong, Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden. 

 

Often mixing murderous riffs with eerie or strange subject matter, their music ranges the gamut from songs about fist fights to mythical lands where murder is not only legal, but expected.

Creation: Kraken was a cover band... at least in my eyes. It was an alternative sound to take some of my favorite lyrics from songs I had done for other bands and to re-imagine them in a different style. While this is how it began, I eventually began writing specifically for them developing their own style. The name is a homage to the band Krokus - a simple short word starting with the letter K and able to be barked out with little to no effort.
